Setting up a pottery studio in an apartment might seem like a lot, but trust me—it’s totally doable! With the right tools and a little creativity, you can create your own cozy studio space (even without a kiln).

Pottery Studio Basics
Here’s a quick rundown of the essentials:
Pottery Wheel – The star of the show. I use a Brent Model B, but there are other great options depending on your space and budget.
Throwing Tools – You don’t need a ton—just the basics like a sponge, needle tool, wire cutter, and trimming tools.
Work Surface & Wedging Surface – I use a wooden board for wedging, but plaster and concrete work great too.
Storage & Shelving – Keeping things organized is key! I love my tool cart and dish rack hack for storing bats.
Safety & Cleanup – Get an air purifier with a HEPA filter, use a mop (never dry sweep!), and always take care of your lungs.
🔥 No Kiln? No Problem!
A kiln in an apartment isn’t always realistic, but you can still make it work! Check out your local studio for firing services or visit KilnShare.com to connect with kiln owners near you.
